“Champions of Grinding” or “150 Rhymes With Arbitrary”

champions-of-grinding-or-150--rhymes-with-arbitraryThere really isn’t much for me to say here. Attached is a composite screenshot of two quests I recieved in Champions Online. I finished one, got a pathetic amount of XP and resources (the game’s version of currency). Then I cried tears of blood. I don’t think I will be doing the second one.

Both quests offered no additional explaination or lore, it simply asked you to go on a killing spree. Maybe it’s a bug, but come on Cryptic, you guys didn’t even try this time!

No mention that these are repeatable daily missions? 🙂

I missed both of these the first time around, but I recently found a version available on Monster Island. That one is a little more bearable since you’re killing, er, defeating the same mobs for a daily collection mission. But it’s still quite insane.

I know. I am leaving out the fact that this insanity can be insanely repeated at the incredibly insane rate of every goddamn day, because I plan on covering it in a follow-up post regarding the validity of the Daily Mission structure in Champions Online.

    Stay tuned!

    No, Bug.

These are new mercenary missions and they are repeatable daily.

If you skip these you will be hitting content gaps. These missions serve a couple of purposes. They enforce that you grind out the 100 of X perks on different mobs getting XP for the perk. You get the kill XP and you get the quest XP.

These were put in place as a pointer at how to makeup the ‘content’ gaps players like to pretend exist when they don’t complete every quest.

You can get by without them though using CrimeComputer2.0

Tool to bridge content gap or not (which is a poor design flaw to begin with), do you feel it is appropriate to include the mission with zero explanation as to how it fits into the story/lore? In the screen shot above, the rest of the quest text below simply said:

    “…”

Even more awesome, when you turn the Monstor Island version in, Ironclad’s response is solely the reward text. Hilarious.

And I’m sorry but if you have to use a third party application to point out every quest you missed, that is a sign something is very wrong.
