Thought of the Day: “Alganon Launches” or “Price Slashes”

Alganon launches today. On launch day, the prices for both the game itself, and the monthly subscription were slashed to $19.99, and $9.99 respectively.

That should go over well with the people that bought the game full price!

Anyone playing the game? First impressions? I am dying to know what the one-month added development cycle did for the game!

    A lot of games have these jitters.

    EQ2 had a really hardcore crafting system in beta. If you didn’t pay attention crafting would probably kill you (and lose your stuff). At launch they panicked and made it easy and forgiving (and consequently utterly bottable).

    Champions Online decided players were too powerful and did a massive nerf on players defences at launch. This made many builds completely unviable.

    This though absolutely takes the biscuit. It’s like they suddenly thought this is a crappy WoW clone, no one’s going to pay full price for this.

    Last minute launch jitters. Breaking a developer near you.

    I don’t see how anyone will want to play this game. The only way I would play it now would be if it was f2p, but even then I’m not sure if I would.
